Welcome to The Coconut Spoon — a little corner of the internet where familiar recipes get an Indonesian-inspired twist
I live in Bali, where some of my favourite everyday recipes have naturally taken on a little Indonesian influence.
Sometimes that started because I couldn’t find a Western ingredient I normally used. A Balinese friend or someone helping in our home would suggest a local alternative — and more often than not, it made the recipe even better.
A splash of kecap manis, coconut milk instead of cream, local citrus, herbs, spices and sambals have all found their way into familiar favourites.
That’s how The Coconut Spoon began.
Here you’ll find easy, comforting recipes reimagined with the ingredients, flavours and food culture of Indonesia — sometimes subtly, sometimes with a much bigger twist.
Nothing complicated. Just familiar food, made a little more interesting.I’m so glad you’re here.
